Our government has never been larger, more intrusive, controlling, and more costly.  Individual responsibility and State rights are impacted by the federal government’s reach. It’s a government that is simply is too big, and the Consitution has a way to solve it.

The founding fathers had an intense fear of tyranny and didn’t want a strong overbearing government. Nothing reflects this fact more than their adoption of Article V of the US Constitution.

Article V – United States Constitution

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

Article V allows two-thirds of the states to call a convention to change the Constitution and limit the federal government’s power. This convention is within our grasp.

It takes 34 states to call a convention. Twelve states have already passed the resolution, with an additional nine states that have adopted it in one house. Even liberal states like California and New York have the resolution in the docket.

States that have affirmed the call for a convention include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.

iVoteAmerica has long been an endorser and supporter of the call for a convention of the states.

The Convention of States allows for a governmental take-back. States can impose term limits on Congress and drain the swamp once and for all. The convention would be more than just a temporary win for the conservative movement. It would be a victory for our nation.
