It is the afore mentioned power that enabled her to stop Republicans from opening up the US coastal waters to offshore drilling. She stopped the vote from taking place and, as many Republicans have done before her, left Washington for the summer recess.

Although Republicans cried like babies, Pelosi saved us all from reckless drilling in the pristine waters off the coastal waters of California, the Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico and Anwar. It’s to be noted that McCain’s reversed his previous, long held position not to drill in Anwar and suddenly announced a new policy to “drill everywhere.”

Pelosi is a leader who is willing to stop John McCain, take it on the chin and in the polls in order to stand up to big oil lobbyists and the exorbitant greed and profit lust of the likes of Exxon.

One thing is certain, the public is waiting for Michelle Obama to clear the air on her “I’m finally proud of America” gaffe. Those on the right still consider Michelle to be a wild card in the high stakes presidential poker game…everyone will be watching tonight.

The Obama campaign realized early that Mrs. O was a factor and even dedicated a section of the Obama website to “Meeting Michelle“.

Although Barack, like all good husbands, issued a call to “lay off” Michelle, she continues to be a pivotal lightning rod. Her throttled appearances on daily forums like The View and staged interviews with hand picked journalists have done little to silence those on the right.

We suggest “Pride” as a topic for tonight’s keynote speach but above all, keep talking Michelle!
