iVoteAmerica conducted a live, running analysis of the Obama acceptance speech and here are the salient features of this event in bullet format as we saw it and heard it. -iVoteAmerica

Enter Obama…stage center..speech begins…crowd is allowed to begin its chants as Barack repeatedly says, “thank you!”

“…I accept your nomination as President of the United States…”

Speech Themes. It’s a story about a man from Kenya and a woman from Kansas. It’s about hard work and the pursuit of dreams. For 232 years…”ordinary men and women found the courage” to keep the American promise alive.”

Challenges of the common man are, in part, a result of the “failed policies of Washington and George Bush.”

The speech made references to poverty and the drowning of American cities…(whatever that means) with Obama stating “we’re better than that…” On November 4, said Obama, we need to “stand up and say eight is enough.”

Attacks on McCain followed…his voting 95% of the time in lock-step with Bush in “issue after issue” and McCain’s team calling American’s a “nation of whiners.”

More: tax breaks for the rich via McCain…McCain “doesn’t get it.”

Quotable Quotes. “It’s time for us to change America.” “Government should insure opportunity…that’s the promise of America.”

“Change means a tax code for companies that create good jobs right here in America.” “I will cut taxes for 95% of all working families…the last thing we should do is lay taxes on the middle class…”

“In ten years we will finally end our dependence on oil from the Middle East.”

“I wll invest 150 billion dollars over the next ten years in renewable power…”

Educational grants, health care, bankruptcy laws, CEO bonuses, equal pay legislation were all targets of Obama’s reform. “Many of these plans will cost money…”

“Fathers must take more responsibility…”

“If John McCain wants to debate about who has the temperament to be Commander in Chief, that’s a debate I am ready to have.”

“We may not agree on abortion but surely we can agree on reducing unwanted pregnancy…”

“The change we need doesn’t come from Washington, it comes to Washington.”

Problematic Positions. Obama committed tax payers to somewhere in the $1.5 trillion dollar range for his vision without explaining where the money is coming from and who is going to pay for it.

Barack committed to going through the budget line-by-line to find the money to pay for his programs. However, he did not specify what items would be targets for reduction or asset transfer.

McCain was chided for not tracking down Osama Bin Laden. Obama will now have to deliver Bin Laden to us.

“I will” was Obama’s repeated phrase touching on every major governmental policy such as health care, international relationships, nuclear proliferation, education and domestic policies.

Obama was careful in his policy statements about guns, gay marriages and immigration, walking a tight rope clearly designed to walk the middle path, playing both sides of the controversial fence.

Speech Wrap Up. Change, change, change and more change. This acceptance speech was laced with the same Obama themes that catipulted him to the nomination. Style without specific substance, emotion without specificity and talk without detail.

Obama’s final wrap-up was shrouded in Martin Luther King, Jr. references and the historical moment in which America now finds itself.

The acceptance speech, ironically, ended with the same Brooks and Dunn song, “Only in America” used by Bush at the conclusion of his acceptance speech.

Here’s iVoteAmerica’s running interpretation of the content of the video as it was played for the first time during the Denver rally.

The Obama team is the first to truly maximize the full arsenal of tools available to it in a 21st century Internet connected planet. In the run-up to the speech, attendees are text to contribute to Obama. It will be interesting to see how much revenue was generated before the first word of Obama’s acceptance speech was uttered.

First Impressions. Roll ‘em at approximately 7:01 p.m. (PST). This is an an American story and led Barack to discover what was unique about America. “It was his mother who understood what she needed to do…” Barack said, “I learned more from my father’s absence…” than his presence. What he learned from mom’s sense of justice for the underdog.

The Chicago story is introduced carefully with an emphasis on Barack’s strange name; there’s Michelle’s story of falling in love with Barack and his standing up for common values he inherited like hard work, kindness, faith and other terms.

The emotional impact of Barack’s mother as the “beating heart” of the family.

Core Message. “What each of us can make of his life…” It’s about moving people and working on behalf of the next generation. “I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper…” said Barack.

It’s a message of higher responsibility, almost an echo of McCain’s message of a “cause bigger than oneself.”

The country Barack believes in is the one where people fight for the common man and the needs of common people.

Call to Action. The video bio is an emotional call to action, pure and simple. Enter Obama, speech begins.

iVoteAmerica Observation: The introduction of Barack Obama started with Joe Biden coming on stage to say he “always dreamed he would be standing in this place…we are here for all the Americans who have been knocked down…we’re here for the next President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.” This was followed by Biden’s reference to a litany of every day people who endorse Barack Obama.

ivoteAmerica Interpretation: The Obama campaign is focused on converting middle Americans to his message of change. Joe Biden is the campaign’s champion of common people. Joe is supposed to be you and me, all of us who work at it everyday. He referenced firefighters, factory workers and police officers in his brief appearance, setting the stage for Obama’s acceptance speech.

Problem for McCain: Obama’s is a mass appeal, pontificating machine who has a very real grip on contemporary society. He utilized text messaging thoughout the day to connect with those participating in this, the largest political rally in U.S. History. It’s hard to image McCain texting Cindy or any other person on planet earth. The Obama team is the first to truly maximize the full arsenal of tools available to it in a 21st century Internet connected planet. In the run-up to the speech, attendees are texted with messages inviting them to contribute to the Obama campaign.

It will be interesting to see how much revenue was generated before the first word of Obama’s acceptance speech was uttered.

Media SpinCNN focused on McCain’s temper and his inability to draw a large impassioned crowd like those CNN claims to have created in Pasadena, Time Square and other places thorughout the country. It’s a media spin, totally. Wolf Blitzer said the event would be a “…where were you when Barack Obama accepted the nomination…it’s a moment in history that we will never forget” an obvious attempt to put the event on par with other great historical events.

Next up, the speech itself.

William Jefferson Clinton could give a speech feigning endorsement of Ronald Reagan and some people would applaud in support. His lip biting (pun intentional) coronation of Obama is necessary, difficult as it was, in order to close the book and set up Hillary for the 2012 election.

All one needed to do was following CNN’s constant panning of the faces of Hillary and Chelsea to get a feel for the dismal frustration they were feeling. One only needed to examine the facial expressions of daughter Chelsea and wife Hillary to know, without doubt, that this was truly one of the most painful political endorsements in recent history, perhaps of all time.

iVoteAmerica suspects this was Bill Clinton’s farewell speech, wrapped in accolades for Obama. We won’t be seeing Bill on the stump…nor Hillary…nor, Chelsea. They’re simply going to be booked through November…end of story.
