The Great Big American Nut House

December 6th, 2012 . by iVote

red rider lunatic fringe - 200America is, for all practical intents and purposes, becoming a quagmire of massive and disconnected proportions. The engine driving the nutty nation is the Federal bureaucracy, fueled by politicians who have lost their sanity.

Of note is the latest piece of legislation coming out of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 that would ban the use of the word “lunatic” in any federal documents and law.

One of the inmates in the Congressional asylum voted against the action…just one. Representative Louie Gohmert refused to take his political Prozac and wash it down with popular political Kool-Aid. According to news reports, Mr. Gohmert stated that use of the word lunatic “really has application” to Washington.

There remains little in the way of predictability in American politics. While we watch our $16 trillion dollar debt climbs to $17 trillion and taxes on all Americans (that’s right, all Americans) go up on January 1, 2012, our elected officials are spending their time determining, legalizing and controlling what words can and cannot be used in Washington.

Feels Like a Depression to Me

Syndicated from Alan Caruba

Between the time that George Washington took the first oath of office as president and when Barack Obama did—1789 to 2009, the United States had borrowed nine trillion dollars. Since Obama took office, it has borrowed or imposed nearly three trillion more debt. Tell me he is not deliberately seeking to bankrupt the nation.

In an August 28 Wall Street Journal editorial it noted that “To no one’s surprise except Vice President Joe Biden’s, second quarter economic growth was revised down yesterday to 1.6% from the prior estimate of growth of 2.4% which was down from first quarter growth of 3.7%, which was down from the 2009 fourth quarter’s 5%. Economic recoveries are supposed to go in the other direction.”

The Chacracteristics are Strikingly Similar

I was born during the Great Depression of the 1930s and have lived long enough now to find myself in a new one. There are similarities between the two, but the first one led to the creation of a variety of government regulatory entities and programs that should have avoided or at least were expected put the brakes on the current one.

A Tarnished Nation in a Valley

September 1st, 2010 . by iVote

obama-pelosi-reid-styled-framed-275Ronald Regan’s characterization of America as a “Shining city on a hill” remains one of the most inspirational characterizations of our nation since its founding.

Barack Obama, our President, has been systematically dismantling the nation’s framework for freedom, reducing us to “a tarnished nation in a valley.”

Never before has then been such an obvious frontal assault on our nation’s fundamental principles of individualism, liberty and entrepreneurialism.

Led by Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Harry Reid (D-NV) on the Congressional side, Barack Obama has fundamentally altered the economic direction of America by shifting trillions of dollars from the private sector to the federal government and by strapping us with an astronomical, multi-generation debt.

This economic shift creates a massive loss of freedom for the American people…debt always does! Federal control of just about every aspect of the economy has been instituted. On top of this transfer of power, taxes will be raised on January 1, 2011 for all Americans, breaking our backs.

Our beloved Ronald Reagan must be watching in disbelief and a broken heart. We now have a President that is hell-bent on creating a nation made up of economic classes, racial categories and the governing elite.

Our Two Pronged Strategy: Gut the Carp, Replace the Fish

We must either drive the President of the United States out of office or, vote him and his minions out of office in November and in the Presidential election of 2012.

In November, we will disembowel the President by replacing Congress with new Members who have pledged to adhere to traditional American values that are aligned with the Constitution and our unalienable rights.

Job Creation: An Out of this World Proposition

December 17th, 2009 . by iVote

moon waterPresident Barack Obama, his esteemed administration and the Democrat controlled Congress have been discussing job creation in ways only a Washington bureaucrat could understand.

The latest measurement of success for job creation is the notion of “jobs saved” versus “jobs created” another insult to the common sense intelligence of Americans.

First of all, government cannot create jobs, except those brought about by massive spending on the expansion of the bureaucracy. In fact, the number one job creating entity in America today is the Federal Governement.

Although government cannot and should not create jobs, it has the power to kill jobs by over taxing citizens, stiffling lending to small business by creating confusion and reluctance and by taking more and more decision-making away from people.

A second problem with job creation being placed in the hands of career politicians and bureaucrats is that they simply, in most cases, don’t have a clue about what makes small buisnesses work. Most of the intelligencia in D.C. has never built a business or taken an idea to market. They have never pondered over leases, hiring, training, equipment, payroll, health insurance, employee reviews, etc. It’s all foreign to them.

Washington’s idea of job creation is akin to tapping into the moon for additional water. Or, studying why pigs like mud and how lady bugs breed.

Finally, and perhaps the worst aspect of D.C. centered job creation is that politicians almost NEVER consider anything without FIRST considering the impact it has on their re-election opportunities and their positions within the Capitol pecking order.

Behind job creation as a “theory” is the over-riding temptation on the part of politicians to create self-serving projects, positions and economic solutions that are about THEM, not US, about POWER and not PEOPLE.

Left alone, the D.C. machine is wholly counter productive to what we, the people (remember us?) understand as a real “JOB” or a real business that must be self-motivated, creative, sensible, conservative and forward-thinking in order to sell products and survices and survive the battles they face which are mostly created by D.C. Those of us who don’t live in Oz know that jobs and business creation in America has always been very, very sensible and not at all complicated, unless of course D.C. muddies the waters with thier filthy self-serving hands.

When the D.C. machine empowers itself as the employment Oz pulling the levers and ropes behind a curtain we can expect to wake up and find ourselves involved in the land of Oz and not the real world of Kansas.

Do not be surprised if NASA’s recent discover of H2O on the moon turns in to a massive works project, funded with your tax dollars and manned with members of the D.C. SEIU.

As we enter the holiday season we can give thanks that the D.C. politicians and bureaucrats have not been able to get to Santa and his hard working, non-union elfs. It should come as no surprise that government can only disrupt reality…yours and mine.
