We now find ourselves in the unenviable or, perhaps enviable depending on one’s perspective, to have no more takers.

Our original concept was built upon the idea of letting the left and the right participate in the same forum, unlike say, Huffington Post and other left-tilted news and blog forums. Seldom do they invite the right to partcipate in the debate. Rather, they seek to eliminate them.

iVoteAmerica wonders why the left cannot survive in the crucible of public debate. We wonder why, for example, the left avoids FOX News but loves Larry King and the New York Times.

Truly, we are confused about the abandonment of arguement from the left in forums such as iVoteAmerica where they are completely free to set forth their ideas, logic and agenda via the this blog as they please and without censorship.

Yawn.

What we have lacked for eight years is Presidential leadership. Obama is a leader. George Bush claimed to be a “uniter” when he was elected. He claimed to be a so-called “compassionate conservative.” His pathetic track record is one of division. Now, it’s our turn!

Like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama will use sound economic and foreign policy judgment. He won’t go it alone in the world with reckless statements like “bring ‘em on!” as did Bush.

Under Obama’s leadership there will be a seamless relationship with both the house and the Senate regarding domestic policy and the creation of legislation we need to cure the economic crisis. Obama will reform Wall Street with new regulations and shut down the free flow of money to corporate CEOs at the expense of shareholders.

On Iraq, Obama will clearly articulate the withdrawal timeline and make demands of the Iraqi government to start paying the freight for their cost of the war.

Then of course, there is the Supreme Court. John McCain won’t be moving the court further to the right. Obama will appoint judges who understand the evolutionary nature of our constitution and that it must be interpreted in light of the times.

In short, the Democrats will get more done in the first 100 days than Bush has accomplished in many years. The difference is the leadership!

We are now seeing what capitalism in its purest form can do to a society when it is allowed to run amuck with greed and self-serving interests.

The collapse of our financial and credit markets is a direct result of people wanting more, and more and more, with little or no regard for the long term consequences.

Are we getting what we deserve? No, but we are getting what we created, that’s for sure. Wall Street and its minion of corporations, CEOs and financial managers have been serving themselves for so long in ways so pervasive that even the Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson, indicated on Meet the Press (Sunday, September 21, 2008) that even he and other officials don’t know how the complicated investments of AIG actually work.

Unbridled capitalism, left to run a greedy, unchecked and unsupervised course may end up being worse than we ever imagined.

While we should have been investing in health care, the environment, alternative energy and balancing the budget, those who are entrusted with our money allowed greedy capitalist to nearly squander a nation. As long as greed is allowed to continue we will never bring solutions to the real needs of Americans.

The takeover of the financial and credit markets by our government is long over due and seems to be the only way to stop self-indulgent capitalists who have nearly ruin this country. Let’s all remind ourselves that we cannot have a self-indulgent nation without a lot of self-indulgent people.

John McCain’s announcement that Sarah Palin, a relative unknown on the national political playing field has only served to refuel the controversy and make us all wonder about where the Obama campaign might be if the button has Obama/Clinton on them rather than Obama/Biden.

This is the “Hillary Factor” and its full impact, if any, will not be known until after the General Election.

Bill Clinton met with Barack Obama recently to give further appearance of unity and support. Bill is still biting his lower lip over the crushing defeat of Hillary.

For those of us in left field, we still believe strongly in the “Hillary Factor.” We now also believe in something else…the “Palin Factor.”

No one can get elected without two powerful voting blocks working in their favor: the female vote and the independent vote. The “Hillary Factor” may also be define the “female factor.”
