A Cockroach is a Cockroach is a Cockroach

October 27th, 2008 . by iVote

Some things never change. Even if you call a cockroach by another name, it’s still a cockroach.

Cockroaches play at night. They work under cloak of night. They do their best work in the dark.

Cockroaches live and thrive in the dripping, moist shadows of darkness. It’s the way they are…it’s the world of the cockroach. It’s the genetic pre-disposition of the roach.

Putting it in popular liberal terms, damp darkness is the primary “eco-system” of the roach.

The Cockroach is an Exterminator’s Best Friend

Try as you may, cockroaches cannot be exterminated. They have always been there and according to scientists, they lived before the dinosaurs (no, that’s not a reference to Senator Robert Byrd). Cockroaches will always be present where there is moisture and darkness and a place to hide.

Political cockroaches are like real cockroaches. The cockroaches of Presidential politics always work best within the blanket of night where, if spotlighted, they can be found breeding, growing, scratching and finding their way through the narrowest of cracks in the fabric of politico.

We have never been able to exterminate the political cockroaches. Viva la roaches!

Dispelling Shadows, Removing Darkness

Political cockroaches have one enemy, exposure. It is light they fear. Illumination separates the bright world of empirical fact from the dark universe of conjured fiction and emotion. The examination of any cockroach is difficult since their instinct is to retreat from light, regroup underground and resurface while most other creatures are slumbering.

Similar to real cockroaches, the primary survival mechanism of a political cockroach is twofold; hide until able to surface again and continue the breeding process, creating more of the same.

With eight days to go in the Presidential election, the spotlights are being flipped on in the middle of the dark days of campaigning to illuminate the myriad cockroaches. They will assuredly scurry and scramble back to their genetic comfort zone…a place that is dripping with contamination and enveloped in darkness wherein only they can see.

The Roaches are Still Alive

As we approach November 4, 2008. America needs a giant spotlight to illuminate the myriad cockroaches before they can flee exposure and find their solitary hiding places until they can surface once again.

On November 5, 2008, Americans will wake up exhausted from the two-year campaign. We will be glad it is all over, sort of. We will face the day. The countertops in our kitchens will show no evidence that cockroaches have been present, dancing and playing. We will want to move forward and get on with our lives.

On Wednesday morning in a very honest and innocent way we will want to think all is well. After all, the roaches are out of sight, therefore, out of mind. Although we do not want to do so, we must continue to remind ourselves…a cockroach is a cockroach is a cockroach.

We need to never forget, the roaches are still there.
