Cicero was Right…and Rome Fell

October 30th, 2008 . by iVote

Cicero believed the politicians of Rome to be corrupt. Yes, many of them were lawyers!

He asserted in his writings and oratory that they had abandoned the intrinsic value system that had once been the hallmark of traditional Rome.

It was Cicero that translated much of the Greek political writings into Latin, thus creating a body of work that communicated the premises upon which government should be built. His central argument was that government, if it is to last, should be premised upon unchanging core values.

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance. - Cicero, 55 BC

It was Cicero that called upon the Roman government to renew its commitment to a traditional value system that placed more emphasis on personal and corporate absolutes ahead of the hunger for power, fortune, popularity and personal pleasure.

Cicero believed that adherence to a set of national value propositions was the key to Rome’s greatness and that if the nation departed from its fundamental moorings, all would be lost.

Cicero was right… and Rome fell.

The Public Lynching of Sarah Palin

October 29th, 2008 . by iVote

Lynching is an ugly part of our nation’s history. Racially motivated lynchings are grotesque reminders of the venom and hate associated with slavery and denial of civil rights in the United States of America to select groups of people.

A self proclaimed “artist” Chad Michael Morisette wanted to create a macabre scene at his home for all to see. He said he did it in the spirit of Halloween. “It should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It’s Halloween, it’s time to be scary it’s time to be spooky,” said Morisette.

Our Long History of Hate Now Forgotten

Morisette must have forgotten our nation’s long history of hate. Today, hate crimes have been codified into law. For anyone to lynch a caricature of any minority person or representative sample of any minority group would be classified in many states as an official hate crime. Hate is a crime…the Feds typically investigate hate crimes.

Living Life in Obama’s America - Change We Can Believe!

October 28th, 2008 . by iVote

In seven days we may all be living life in Obama’s America. If Barack Obama is elected, will he really bring “change we can believe?”

iVoteAmerica is not completely certain what it will be like to live life in Obama’s America. However, we can prognosticate with some degree of certainty based upon the content of Obama’s speeches and of course, the company he has kept over the course of his political career.

Since revisiting William Ayers and Reverend Wright would be an exercise in futility, let’s focus on the content of his verbiage and the language flowing from his lips. Each reader can determine from the flow of words, past and present, whether they would prefer to find themselves living life in Obama’s America beginning in January, 2009.

Here is the much talked about content from Obama’s Chicago radio interview in September, 2001. Note: the bold emphasis is ours.

Dems Geting More Done

October 27th, 2008 . by iVote

After Barack Obama is elected a lot of Americans on the far right will be amazed at how much the Democrats will get done in Congress and for the nation.

What we have lacked for eight years is Presidential leadership. Obama is a leader. George Bush claimed to be a “uniter” when he was elected. He claimed to be a so-called “compassionate conservative.” His pathetic track record is one of division. Now, it’s our turn!
